Summary (goodreads.com) :

Juliette hasn't touched anyone in exactly 264 days.

The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette's touch is fatal. As long as she doesn't hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don't fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color.

The Reestablishment said their way was the only way to fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering war—and The Reestablishment has changed its mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body. Maybe she's exactly what they need right now.

Juliette has to make a choice: Be a weapon. Or be a warrior.

Review:

I think the way Julliett was written was so interesting. The crossed through sentences and the hyperbolic language that was used to depict the way her mind works was so smart. I immediately connected to her because compared to other heroines in YA books she wasn't immediately fearless and brave but afraid. I think it was really realistic especially because of the circumstances she was in. Throughout the end I did want to see more of a character

Plot wise I think the book went by so fast. I finished it in 3 days and it was really fast paced. Looking back at it though it felt like the first part of a longer book because it kind of cut off at the most interesting and important part. Despite that I still enjoyed it because of the new world the book introduced us to. I haven’t read a dystopian book in a long time so I enjoyed this a lot. It took a bit of time to figure out how this world worked but it matched the character since even she is learning everything again.

Buchbuzz Rating:

4 /5 ⭐️- I think it was a really good start for a dystopian YA series and I’m excited to continue it. I would recommend it for ages 12 and up.
